Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology used to improve business processes by reducing defects and variations. It follows the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) framework for process improvement and DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify) for new processes.
Developed by Motorola in the 1980s, it gained global recognition after General Electric (GE) successfully implemented it under Jack Welch in the 1990s.
