In order for providers to enhance learning in South Africa and establish a framework of qualifications and standards that are relevant, credible and accessible, providers need a clearly described nature of operations within their organisation. A Quality Management System sees the integration of an organisation, its culture and environment and using management to align the mission, culture and working practices in pursuit of continued quality improvement. A QMS helps coordinate and direct an organization’s activities to meet regulatory requirements and improve its effectiveness and efficiency on a continuous basis.

A fully documented QMS will ensure that two important requirements are met:

  • The business systems of the organization are detailed. These should reflect the organisation’s internal and external operational requirements ensuring the efficient utilization of human, physical, technological and information resources. The business requirements form the foundation on which any organisation’s sustainability and growth is dependent.
  • The training systems that include development, delivery and evaluation of learning with a key focus on learners’ needs and requirements. These systems focus on the ability of the organisation to deliver and assess the desired education and training outcomes consistently.
