Course Introduction

Water purification is the process of removing bacteria and other undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water. The goal of water purification is to produce water fit for a specific purpose, whether for human consumption or industrial purposes.

Most water for human consumption is disinfected (drinking water) and has a Ph. OF 7; but water purification may also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including fulfilling the requirements of medical, pharmacological, chemical, and industrial applications. The methods used will differ from application to application. This course prepares you to function independently on water or wastewater treatment works. Water treatment course topics include: an introduction to water technology, maintaining equipment used in wastewater treatment, and the process for treating wastewater.
