The Learning Support Facilitator Skills Programme is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to support learners who are experiencing challenges that affect their ability to succeed in formal education settings. The facilitator plays a key role in identifying learning barriers, applying appropriate support strategies, and assessing learner progress to help prevent dropout and academic failure.
This programme prepares learners to work alongside teachers, lecturers, and training practitioners by providing personalised support to learners in need. The learning support facilitator works in a variety of contexts, including schools, colleges, training centres, and community-based education programmes.

Course Content
The Learning Support Facilitator programme focuses on three main responsibilities of a learning support facilitator:
1. Identifying and Profiling Learning Barriers
Participants will learn how to observe and recognise learners who are struggling due to learning difficulties, behavioural issues, language challenges, or emotional and social problems. Learners will also be trained to gather relevant information to create learner profiles and analyse the most suitable support options. This involves understanding the causes of learning difficulties and how to document them for follow-up.
2. Applying Learning Support Methods and Techniques
Once learning barriers are identified, participants will be guided on how to choose and apply suitable support techniques. This includes planning supplementary sessions, adapting teaching methods, using remedial tools, and offering encouragement to boost learner confidence. The focus is on providing personalised learning support that matches the learner’s specific needs and promotes academic progress.
3. Conducting Formative Assessment and Supporting Remediation
Participants will be trained to use basic assessment tools and observation methods to evaluate learner progress. This section teaches how to identify knowledge gaps, interpret results, and plan appropriate follow-up support. Learners will also learn how to work collaboratively with educators and advise on strategies to improve learner outcomes.
