This Prospen Africa Introduction to Six Sigma workshop is designed to build a solid understanding of six sigma basics, incorporating an all-day exercise to demonstrate key principles and tools that are applicable in any industry.
Six sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process and it seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimising variability in the process.
This is a one-day Introduction to Six Sigma course that will consist of presentations, led discussion and short workshop sessions. It incorporates a review of the Six Sigma problem solving methodology; Define – Measure – Analyse – Improve – Control (DMAIC).
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts of Six Sigma, including its origins, key terminology such as defects, process variability, and the importance of customer focus.
Learn about the Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) methodology, which serves as a structured problem-solving approach to process improvement within the Six Sigma framework.
Acquire basic statistical knowledge and understand its application within the context of Six Sigma methodologies, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Gain hands-on experience with various tools and techniques used in Six Sigma projects, including histograms, Pareto charts, root cause analysis, fishbone diagrams, and design of experiments (DOE).
Learn data analysis techniques and tools utilized during the Analyse phase of DMAIC, including how to interpret and utilize histograms, Pareto charts, and conduct root cause analysis effectively.
Develop skills in generating and evaluating potential solutions to identified problems or defects within a process, including the application of design of experiments (DOE) to optimize process parameters.
Understand the importance of control charts and statistical process control (SPC) in maintaining process stability and ensuring sustained improvements, as well as project closure and handover procedures.
Gain insights into Lean principles and understand how they complement and integrate with Six Sigma methodologies to achieve synergistic improvements in process efficiency and effectiveness.
Analyse real-world case studies and success stories of Six Sigma implementation across various industries, identifying challenges, best practices, and lessons learned.
Engage in group discussions to share experiences, challenges, and insights related to Six Sigma implementation, fostering collaborative learning and knowledge sharing among participants.
This Introduction to Six Sigma course is designed for delegates who wish to gain a solid understanding of six sigma methods, enabling them to apply best practice tools and confidently deliver any design project. No specific qualifications/experience is required.
