Course Introduction

Most new businesses in South Africa don’t fail from a lack of ambition — they fail from a gap in practical business capability: financial management, market awareness, and the discipline to plan and execute. Our New Venture Creation skills programme closes that gap directly, giving aspiring and existing entrepreneurs the accredited, practical grounding to start, manage and grow a sustainable small business in either the public or private sector.

Whether you’re launching a new venture or strengthening one already running, this QCTO-accredited programme gives you the qualification and the practical toolkit to do it with confidence.

Course Duration

5 Day Accredited Skills Programme

Entry Requirements

Grade 9 / NQF Level 1

Assessment

Ongoing Evaluation Formative Assessment

Every subject includes integrated multiple-choice questions for internal formative evaluation. A passing grade on the formative assessment is required to progress to the next subject. Assessments can be administered manually or through e-assessment.

Monitored Evaluation Project-Based Assessment

Participants must create a project plan demonstrating understanding of all covered modules. This plan doubles as a business strategy for either launching a new venture or expanding an existing micro-enterprise. Assessments can be conducted manually or through e-assessment.

Course Objectives

By the end of this New Venture Creation programme, you will be able to:

  • Collect and assess industry-related information
  • Identify the market needs that drive product and service demand
  • Assess and manage the financial, personnel and infrastructure needs of a business
  • Supervise those same financial, personnel and infrastructure functions day to day
  • Develop a strategic plan to launch a new venture
  • Coordinate and execute efficient business operations

Who should attend?

Aspiring entrepreneurs ready to launch a new venture, and existing small business owners looking to strengthen, stabilise or grow what they’ve already built — including youth entrepreneurs, informal traders and township or rural-based businesses, as well as those preparing a formal startup.
