Course Introduction

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a practical, customer-focused management philosophy that embeds quality into every part of an organisation. It depends on the active participation of everyone — from frontline staff to senior leaders — and combines strategy, data and clear communication to drive continuous improvement.

This intensive online course gives supervisors, team leaders and managers a hands-on grounding in TQM principles and tools so they can embed quality thinking into processes, teams and strategy. Through practical exercises, real-world case studies and ready-to-use templates you’ll learn how to diagnose quality problems, design improvements and lead sustained change that increases customer satisfaction and business performance.

TQM in this course is presented through three complementary pillars:

  • Tools & Techniques — quantitative and qualitative methods for solving quality problems (process mapping, root-cause analysis, control charts, PDSA).

  • Customer Focus — turning customer needs into measurable quality targets and meaningful indicators.

  • Quality Culture — values, behaviours and leadership practices that sustain improvement across the organisation.

Course Objectives

By the end of the Total Quality Management (TQM) programme participants will be able to:

  • Apply core TQM philosophies (Deming and others) to everyday management.

  • Use process-analysis and continuous-improvement tools (SIPOC, PDSA, fishbone, Pareto) to diagnose and fix quality issues.

  • Design simple quality metrics and calculate Cost of Quality / Cost of Poor Quality to justify improvement projects.

  • Lead and communicate quality initiatives that build a shared culture of improvement.

  • Translate strategy into actionable quality plans, SMART objectives and measurable KPIs.

Who should attend?

  • Team leaders, supervisors and managers responsible for process performance.

  • Quality, continuous-improvement and operations staff.

  • HR and training professionals involved in quality culture change.

  • Project and programme managers who need to embed quality into delivery.
