Course Introduction

This Acquisition Management Workshop is designed to help learners achieve the ideals of good governance and address deficiencies in Acquisition Management in the public sector. It covers the full acquisition lifecycle in practical, applied detail: sourcing, quotations, specifications, bid administration, evaluation, adjudication, and contract management.

South African public procurement is currently in a significant transition. The Public Procurement Act 28 of 2024 was signed into law in July 2024 and will eventually repeal the PPPFA, introducing a new Public Procurement Office within National Treasury, a Procurement Tribunal, and expanded set-aside provisions. Implementation is phased and not yet complete, so the PFMA, MFMA, and PPPFA remain the operative framework for now — this course teaches that current framework in full, practical detail, while making sure you understand the transition already underway and know what to watch for as it takes effect.
