This skills programme prepares learners to effectively perform the role of an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Representative in a low-risk work environment. It provides essential knowledge of OHS principles, workplace safety procedures, and legal responsibilities related to workplace health and safety. Learners will gain practical skills to identify and report hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, while supporting compliance with OHS legislation, workplace policies, and procedures. The programme also develops the ability to participate in workplace inspections, incident investigations, and the resolution of health and safety concerns.
In addition, learners will strengthen communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and reporting skills to promote OHS awareness and contribute to a positive safety culture. On completion, learners will be able to support workplace health and safety initiatives, assist OHS committees and management and help maintain compliance with OHS requirements in low-risk operational environments.
