Course Introduction

This Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint course aligns with Unit Standard 116930, “Use a Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based presentation application to enhance presentation appearance” (NQF Level 3, 5 Credits, valid for enrolment until 30 June 2028 and for achievement until 30 June 2031). The unit standard is intended for people who need to enhance presentation appearance using a GUI-based presentation application, either as a general computer user or as part of the knowledge required for a career in a field such as ICT. 

Participants work hands-on with graphs, organisational charts, drawings, images, and animation to produce presentations that communicate clearly and look professional.

  • Changing graph colours to enhance appearance
  • Changing the graph type to improve usability, according to given specifications
  • Resizing graphs to improve usability, according to given specifications
Module 2: Create an Organisational Chart in a Presentation
  • Creating a new organisational chart to present specific organisational information
  • Changing the hierarchical structure of an organisational chart to enhance usability
  • Adding and removing hierarchical elements according to given specifications
Module 3: Create a Drawing in a Presentation
  • Drawing lines into a presentation and changing their attributes
  • Drawing shapes into a presentation
  • Changing the orientation of a drawing according to given specifications
  • Changing the attributes of a shape
  • Resizing drawings to improve the layout of the presentation
  • Re-aligning drawing objects within the presentation
  • Changing the order of display of overlapping objects relative to other drawing objects
  • Adding connector lines between shapes
Module 4: Import Images into a Presentation
  • Importing images from different file types for inclusion in a presentation
  • Resizing images
