Course Introduction

The Advanced Procurement and Logistics Management course is a comprehensive 5-day programme designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in procurement, storage, and logistics. The course covers the full procurement and logistics lifecycle: purchasing and storage fundamentals, procurement methods and problem-solving, logistics management, and the commercial, legal, and shipping documentation required to move goods across borders — including Incoterms 2020, export documentation, customs clearance, transportation, and export insurance.

  • Internal organisation of stores: wholesale warehouses and exchange warehouses
  • Methods of ordering and locating items
Day 2: Procurement Methods and Problem-Solving
Unit 3: Methods and Procedures of Purchase and Storage
  • Types of procurement methods: public and limited tender, negotiated procurement, and direct order
  • Regulation of procurement methods, and procedures and forms used in procurement and storage
  • Inventory control methods, stock control reports, and stock control indicators
  • Methods for evaluating and following up on procurement work

  • Causes of stagnant (dead) stock and methods of treatment
  • Administrative, organisational, and physical problems affecting procurement and storage, and their impact

  • Payment mechanisms in international trade: documentary collections
  • Performance assurance mechanisms in international trade: letters of guarantee and letters of credit
Unit 6: Commercial and Legal Documents from the Sales Contract Perspective
  • The initial invoice, and defining its most important items
  • The export contract and its legal elements
  • Correct contract terms, and an introduction to Incoterms 2020 for allocating shipping cost, risk, and responsibility
Day 4: Export Documentation and Shipping
Unit 7: Export Documents from the Perspective of International Customs Regulation for Documentary Credits
  • Commercial and consular invoices
  • Detection of contents and weights, and the Certificate of Origin
  • Documents authenticated by the importing country's consulates
  • Pre-shipment inspection documents, and transport and insurance documents

  • Mixed shipping, containerised shipping, and cargo shipping
  • Shipping by chartered ships and by rolling ships
