Course Introduction

PRINCE2® (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured, process-based project management method used in the public and private sectors around the world. This combined course builds a thorough understanding of the PRINCE2 7th Edition framework (its principles, the People dimension, practices, and processes) and prepares participants for the content and format of both the Foundation and Practitioner exams.

PRINCE2 7 introduced real changes that are worth knowing before exam day: the former seven Themes are now called Practices, and People is a new element that covers leadership, team building, and stakeholder engagement. The course is built around the 7th Edition structure, so participants study the content that the current exams assess.

Foundation and Practitioner are two separate, independently examined PeopleCert qualifications. Prospen Africa is not currently a PeopleCert-accredited training organisation, so this course is not an accredited PRINCE2 course, does not include the exams or official courseware, and does not issue a PeopleCert certificate. Participants who wish to certify arrange and pay for their exams separately with PeopleCert or an accredited provider. PRINCE2® is a registered trademark of PeopleCert.

Programme Duration Breakdown

This 5-day programme delivers both qualifications together:

  • Days 1 – 3: PRINCE2 Foundation. Covers the full Foundation syllabus at knowledge level: the principles, the People dimension, all seven practices, and all seven processes, with Foundation exam familiarisation. Participants who want only the Foundation content can attend these three days as a standalone course.
  • Days 4 – 5: PRINCE2 Practitioner. Builds on the Foundation content with application and tailoring at scenario level, plus Practitioner exam preparation. Practitioner-level exams require the Foundation certification first.

Course Objectives

By the end of this PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the PRINCE2 principles, the People dimension, the practices, and the processes, and how they work together
  • Apply PRINCE2 to structure, plan, and control a project from start-up to closure
  • Tailor PRINCE2 appropriately to different project types, sizes, and organisational contexts
  • Apply the practices, including business case, quality, risk, issues, and progress, in real project situations
  • Apply the People dimension to lead teams and engage stakeholders within a PRINCE2 project
  • Describe the structure of the PRINCE2 7 Foundation and Practitioner exams, and what each assesses
  • Use open-book exam technique for the Practitioner exam, including efficient use of the manual
  • Prepare for the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner exams, which are sat separately through PeopleCert

Who should attend?

  • Project Managers and Coordinators who want a structured, globally recognised methodology
  • Public sector and government project professionals, and others in organisations that use PRINCE2
  • Project management professionals who want a complementary credential
  • Project Board members, sponsors, and anyone responsible for governing or overseeing project delivery
