Course Introduction

As social expectations and regulatory requirements evolve, the mining industry faces mounting pressure to deliver meaningful, measurable transformation through its Social and Labour Plans (SLPs). These plans are no longer optional—they are strategic imperatives that directly impact the sustainability and reputation of mining operations.

Communities are demanding transparency and real benefits. The media continues to report dissatisfaction due to broken promises, while amendments to the MPRDA Regulations empower communities to have a direct say in the development and implementation of SLPs. Mining right holders must engage stakeholders early, ensure inclusive development processes, and report effectively on progress.

The goal of this workshop is to help you move beyond compliance to meaningful, strategic transformation. We focus on integrating key aspects such as Local Economic Development, Skills Development, Employment Equity, and alignment with municipal Integrated Development Plans—creating plans that are not only DMPR-compliant, but impactful and community-driven.

Join us to unlock the tools, insights, and strategies needed to design, implement, and report on Social and Labour Plans that build trust, deliver value, and support long-term success.
